A Daughter’s thank you
It’s Father’s Day, and we get to celebrate amazing dads across the world. I am fortunate to have been raised by an exceptional father; now, I am married to one too. From their first steps to the milestones of motherhood, this is a message to girl dads who play a pivotal role in shaping their daughters’ lives.
Whether you know one, are one or have lost one, I hope this message brings you fond memories of your dad.
Thank you for holding me when I was new,
Fresh on this earth, with a world still to view.
Thank you for holding me still, years gone by,
When I was the one giving birth, a grandfather sat at my side.
Thank you for watching endless fashion shows,
Each time we got new clothes
Thank you for rushing to get monthly supplies,
Dealing with hormones and holding us when we cried.
Thank you for each sacrifice, big and small,
The ones we know and those none recall.
Thank you for never saying “I told you so,”
For your protection, and instincts, and sometimes saying “no.”
Thank you for loving our mom so clearly,
Showing us that we too, deserve to be loved dearly
Thank you for having our best at heart,
Whether we’re rooms or cities, or oceans apart.
We hope to have many more of these days
So our babies can someday write letters of their own,
singing their grandfathers’ praise
